Water Jet Machines

Water jet cutting technology is the most efficient, cost effective and fastest growing method to cut materials. Due to its versatility and ease of operation, fabricators are quickly realizing the vast potential of these machines. Waterjets (or abrasivejets) can cut virtually any material in any shape with no heat distortion or mechanical stress usually caused by other methods. Their ultra high precision, facilitated by the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs, is ideal for detailed and narrow kerfs. Unfortunately, this method has been out of reach for most small to medium sized companies due to the high cost of these machines until now.

Jordon Glass has teamed with Water Jet Co. of China to fabricate abrasive waterjets at an affordable price.

Technology:

Pressurized water reaching 45,000 pounds per square inch (PSI) is administered through a tiny opening at the end of the waterjet nozzle. The result is a needle like beam of water that can cut a variety of soft materials such as rubber, foam, some woods, etc. When an abrasive such as garnet is applied to the pressurized water, the result is a more potent "abrasive waterjet" with capabilities of cutting hard materials such as steel, stone, glass, etc.
Our water jets use a triplex-plunger driven by an electric motor connected to a crankshaft pump ("Direct Drive") to generate water pressure. This method is different than the intensifier pumps used by other waterjets. Crankshaft systems have a higher efficiency ratio between their input vs. output horsepower and offer a lower cost of maintenance than intensifier pumps. This translates to more cutting power per dollar. An additional advantage of the crankshaft system is that a frequency converter enables the operator to control the speed of the direct drive electric motor and consequently the water pressure administered via the nozzle. This enables the operator to perforate as well as etch on to the material. Glass etching is virtually impossible to accomplish utilizing a waterjet with an intensifier pump, as the output pressure cannot be regulated.

The simplicity of the design makes it very easy and economical to use / operate / maintain and regulate. With Jordon Waterjets you can adjust or regulate any necessary parameter such as: pressure, speed, sand (garnet), sand grit, nozzle height, etc. allowing you to just create a small indentation in a 1/8" (3mm) mirror or to precisely cut a 1 1/2" (38mm) piece of stainless steel.

All moving and high-pressure parts are made of the highest quality stainless steel. Main components are imported from the United Kingdom.

Operation costs are minimal since Jordon waterjets uses only 2 lts. of water per minute or less.
